Sunlight Conversations: Would MLK Have a Dream Today??

Good morning everyone and welcome to sunlight conversations!!

Today I just want to talk about what are some of the issues we are facing today, that Martin Luther King would have dreamed to change?

Everyone, well most of us, have heard the “I have a dream” speech by Martin Luther King.

When Dr. King wrote this speech, it was in a time where racial tensions were high, segregation was real, and unity was needed.

It seems though, that the things that Martin Luther King dreamed of, did come true in some form.

Segregation is no more and we live in a very diverse country, where it is ok to intermix with other races. We are no longer separated by force.

However, If Martin Luther King was alive today, I believe that he would still see a need for change.

Somehow, even though we are not separated by force, we are still very divided in this country.

We are still divided by our races, by our religions, our professions, and even our political beliefs.

Immigration issues are dividing our country.

There is still a lot of inequality in our justice system.

Black on black crime is at an all time high. It seems now, like the hate we received for so long has continued on to our own people hating each other. Horizontal hostility is very real and prevelent in the black community.

Hate crimes are on the rise!!

Mass shootings are all too common!!

Political issues are keeping us on different sides of the field.

Their is a need for a dream today!! Their is a need for a Leader amongst the people to unite us together.

We may not be facing the same issues we were 60 years ago, but we are still in dire need of change.

We still have a long way to go when it comes to equality.

We still have more dreams to dream and more work to do.

It only begins when we address the issues.

I don’t have the answers to the problems or all the solutions, but I am willing to help find them.

We must all be willing to do our part, if we will ever see things change.

The world is crying out for change!!

So would Martin Luther King still have a dream today??

I’m sure he would and I’m sure he would want us to keep fighting for the dream he already saw.

I’m learning that I can be the change I want to see in the world.

With my kindness, my actions, and my words I can change the one small part of the world that I inhabit.

It starts with self and it flows from there.

We must start having these conversations and doing what we can to change our world for the better.

Thank you all for reading my readers.

I hope that you all have a great day and just ask yourself, what can you do personally to change the world for the better?

Keep the Dreams Alive!!
